What's on the agenda for next week?

We have a lot going on in a four day week next week! The students found out what house they will be a part of for the next three years this morning. They are excited!!

We had lots of colleges represented in our class today!

MAP-On Wednesday September 9th and Friday September 11th, your child will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®). We give students MAP tests to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of Reading and Math.Your child will take the tests on a computer. We are truly excited to continue focusing on every child’s individual growth and achievement. Partnering to help all kids learn, parents and teachers can have a profound positive effect on the lives of our children.

Disability Training- Thursday the students will participate in disability training with the rest of third grade. They will rotate through different stations that simulate what it is like to have different disabilities.


Folders- Students will bring their green folders home on Fridays now. There are several grades coming home. Please look over them with your child, sign the top test and return to school on Monday. Thanks! 

Math- We continue practicing multiplication and division and different strategies the students can use to solve problems. We will focus on Lessons 11-13. Math Newsletter

Language Arts- We will be reading "Amazing Grace". Our skills will be character traits and types of sentences. The spelling test will be moved to Thursday due to MAP testing on Wednesday.


Science- We continue discussing habitats and plant and animal adaptations in the desert and grasslands.


Social Studies- We continue learning about South Carolina and the symbols that represent our great state.
