Curriculum

Math- We will start Chapter 9: Multiplies and Problem Solving. If you would like to know what your child will be expected to do in this chapter, check out the Chapter 9 Family Letter.  The students continue to use Reflex to strengthen their fluency with multiplication. They are welcome to use it at home too. 

ELA-  We will focus on nonfiction text structures. (problem solution, description, question and answer) In writing, we will wrap up our unit on opinion writing. We will also focus on 

Science- We will focus on rocks and minerals. (Please see the email about donating supplies, if you are willing to help.)

Social Studies- We will focus on science.

Math- We continue with Chapter 8: Add and Subtract Multi Digit Numbers. We will have a test over this chapter on Friday. If you would like to know what your child will be expected to do in this chapter, check out the Chapter 8 Family Letter.  The students continue to use Reflex to strengthen their fluency with multiplication. They are welcome to use it at home too. 

ELA-  We will continue to focus on author's purpose (persuade, entertain, inform) and start on text features. In writing, we will wrap up our unit on opinion writing. 

Science- We will not focus on science.

Social Studies- We will tie in geography while learning about holidays around the world.

Each student has their own calendar of the LCE 12 Days of Holiday Fun in their agenda. I will also have a copy in the pathway in Google Classroom each day.

3rd Grade Trivia Question

Congrats to Weston for being one of the first third graders to correctly answer the 3rd grade trivia question on the morning show. He earned a poster. 


BHS Athlete Leaders

Hannah Black worked with a Lauren and Machiah during her visit with our class this week. Hannah is a senior and plays softball. 


Reading Counts Celebrations

Congrats to Tyler for earning over 150 points, Bryce for earning over 50 points and Kai for earning over 50 points. The next Reading Counts celebration will be in December. 



Turkey Rounding
Students enjoyed reviewing rounding with a turkey rounding game today. 



Curriculum

Math- We will wrap up Chapter 7 on Rounding and Estimating with a test the Tuesday after break. Your child received a study guide on Thursday. We will move into Chapter 8: Add and Subtract Multi Digit Numbers. If you would like to know what your child will be expected to do in this chapter, check out the Chapter 8 Family Letter.  The students continue to use Reflex to strengthen their fluency with multiplication. A Look Ahead

 Students enjoyed the Veteran's Day Video created by Mrs. Sadler and the fourth grade students on Thursday. It is located on your child's Thursday pathway, if you would like to watch it. Below is a picture of the class singing Star Spangled Banner with Mrs. Kenga, Mr. Williams and Ms. Sadler. Thank you to all the parents who have served our country!

School pictures are coming home in your child's Friday folder. Please look at them and read the directions on the back of the package, if you would like to purchase. If not, please send them back. Makeup pictures are on Tuesday, November 16th.

Pumpkin Character Contest

Congrats to Hasani!! He won 2nd prize in the school pumpkin contest. He was rewarded with a bag full of goodies. 

Students found the area of their name in math this week. Look for your child's in their Friday Folder. Below is an example...


Students created personified superheros. Below is a picture of Jayla Leach's personified fork. They were so creative! 


Curriculum

Math- We continue in Chapter 6: Relate Area to Multiplication. We will wrap up the chpater with a test on Wednesday. Please look for the study guide to come home on Monday. Science- We will wrap up our focus on Habitat Changes by humans, animals and nature.  

Social Studies- We will focus on Physical Features in our state, country and world next week.
