A Look Ahead

Spirit Week After Break

Creative Poets

We wrapped up our poetry unit and some students chose to write their own poems. I will share a couple each week.

Elephant's Bath
Trunks spraying, ears flapping with joy and surprise.
Feet splashing, bark splashing, all around.
Then one more dunk, one more trumpet all clean!
We like to bathe where crocs are not.

Spring is Coming
The grass is starting to sway.
It's never been that way.
The flowers are starting to grow,
oh how their so beautiful in their way.
Spring is coming soon
everything will be new!

Drops On A Penny

Students used droppers to see how many drops of water could fit on the surface of a penny. We discussed if their penny could fit more than a milliliter or less than a milliliter of water.

Math- We continue working in Chapter 12: Understand Time, Liquid Volume and Mass, but are focused on metric and customary capacity. If you are interested in reading about what your child will be learning and expected to do, please look at the Chapter 12 Family Letter. The students continue to use Reflex to strengthen their fluency with multiplication. They are welcome to use it at home too.

ELA- We will focus on grammar and reviewing many of the reading skills from this year. In writing, we will continue our text dependent analysis writing unit. This writing unit involves reading skills as well since students will learn how to analyze a text.

Science-  We will focus on social studies.
