A Look Ahead

Curriculum

Math- We start Chapter 6: Relate Area to Multiplication. If you would like to learn more about what your child will learn in this chapter, please read the Chapter 6 Family Letter. The students continue to use Reflex to strengthen their fluency with multiplication. They are welcome to use it at home too. 

ELA-  We will continue to focus on finding main idea in a text. In writing, we will start our opinion writing unit. 

Science- We will focus on Habitat Changes by humans, animals and the environment. 

Social Studies- We will focus on science next week.

 Boosterthon Fun 

We had a great time at the Boosterthon Fun Run today. Thank you for supporting the school and your child! The class can wear pajamas on Monday since we hit our $60 per lap class goal. Below are pictures from today and this week. 







Reading Counts Celebration

Congratulations to Tyler for earning over 100 Reading Counts points since the beginning of the year! The next Reading Counts celebration will be in the middle of November. Check out the LCEU Media Center website for more informaiton about Reading Counts. 



Benchmark Testing

We have first quarter benchmark testing on Tuesday and Wednesday and will be on a different schedule. Benchmark testing is for ELA and Math and is administered for instructional purposes only, they will not be used for grades. 


Curriculum

Math- We will wrap up Chapter 5: Patterns and Fluency with Multiplicaiton with a quiz on Thursday. If you would like to learn more about what your child will be learning, please read the Family Letter for Chapter 5. The students continue to use Reflex to strengthen their fluency with multiplication. They are welcome to use it at home too. 

ELA-  We will focus on finding main idea in a text. In writing, we will wrap up figurative language with a quiz on Friday. We will also focus on verbs. 

Science- We will focus on Habitat Changes by humans, animals and the environment. 

Social Studies- We will focus on science next week.

A Look Ahead

 Boosterthon

The Boostherthon Fun Run will be at 8:15 on Thursday morning. You are welcome to come cheer your child on while they run. It will be outside. Also, we are at $19 per lap as a class so we have earned a hat day and crazy sock day! The whole class will celebrate with both on Monday. Those who registered on Boosterthon looked comfy today in their pajamas! (I forgot to get a picture during the day so I was not able to include everyone since some students had already been dismissed.) 


Book Review

Studnets wrote a book review during their media center lesson. Mahciah's and Levi's are posted in the hallway for all to read. 


Curriculum

Math- We will start the lesson in Chapter 5: Patterns and Fluency with Multiplicaiton. The studnets will have a graded division assignment on Wednesday. If you would like to learn more about what your child will be learning, please read the Family Letter for Chapter 5. The students continue to use Reflex to strengthen their fluency with multiplication. They are welcome to use it at home too. 

ELA-  We started discussing theme last week and will continue. We will also focus on figurative language (metaphors, personification, similes and idoms). Students will write the final copy of their personal narrative. 

Science- We will focus on Habitat Changes by humans, animals and the environment. 

Social Studies- We will have a graded assignment on Tuesday, but nothing they need to study for. They will be completing an assignment called a One Pager.

Max's Stolen Burger

The students were dectives in math today and had to figure out which suspect stole Max's hamburger. They did GREAT!! 


Google Earth

The students really enjoyed exploring Google Earth today during social studies.

Scholastic Book Fair Orders

We would like to extend a tremendous thanks to everyone who supported the Scholastic Book Fair! We wanted to let you know that the Scholastic Book Fair Orders are delayed due a lack of warehouse staff. When your order ships, Scholastic will send you an email to confirm that your order is on its way. At the school level, we cannot track or see personal orders. We apologize for this delay.  

Curriculum

Math- We will continue discussing strategies to solve division problems in Chapter 4. The students will have a math test on Friday. Look for a study guide to be sent home in the middle of the week.  If you would like to learn more about what your child will be learning about with division, please read the Family Letter for Chapter 4. The students continue to use Reflex to strengthen their fluency with multiplication. They are welcome to use it at home too. 

ELA-  We will finish up our focus on character traits with a quiz on Wednesday. We are finising up our unit on personal narratives this week. 

Science- We will focus on social studies. 

Social Studies- We will focus on the continents and oceans and South Carolina Regions.

A Look Ahead

BHS Athlete Leaders

We will have a Blythewood Athlete Leader in our classroom once a month. He/she will work with the students one on one and in small groups doing different activities. Bree was in our classroom this week for about an hour and worked on multiplication and reading. 



New Student

We welcomed a new student to our class! Paige is joining us from North Carolina. The students have done a great job of making her feel welcome.

Social Studies- We will focus on the continents and oceans.
