A Look Ahead

Starbooks
The students enjoyed the media center lesson this week with Mrs. Burgos-Carnes (reading coach) and Mrs. Medlock (media center specialist). They engaged in a book tasting! The only thing missing was the coffee. :)

Pet Rocks
I love the creativity the students used to create their pet rocks! They will be writing an autobiography from their pet rock's point of view. They will also be making a video using a green screen of their pet rock with the help of our TLC, Mrs. Black. When your child's video is done I will share it via email.

Curriculum

Math- We will continue to work in Module 3, Multiplication and Division.
Please encourage your child to continue to practice their multiplication facts and division facts. Students can practice their fluency (addition, subtraction, multiplication division) on the following website.  https://www.mathsisfun.com/numbers/math-trainer-multiply.html

Language Arts-  We will continue to discuss text structures (compare/contrast, description, sequence, cause/effect) with nonfiction books and passages. We will also continue with our informative writing unit. The students will also write autobiographies from the pet rock's point of view.

Social Studies- We will continue discussing Colonial Times in SC. We will most likely have a test over this content the week of January 20th.

ScienceWe will wrap up slow changes to the Earth (Weathering and Erosion).
