A Look Ahead

Friday Folder- Assessments
Your child will bring home tests and quizzes in their Friday Folder. Please sign the top assessment each Friday and send them back in the folder. They only have their math quiz today.

MAP Testing
We have MAP testing this week. Monday they will take the reading portion and Tuesday is the math. We will start promptly at 8:30 am, so please make sure your child is on time both   days.

Reading Celebration
Congrats to Kameron and Khloe M. for completing the Richland County Reading Challenge this summer! They enjoyed a pizza party today with the rest of the students who accomplished this challenge.

Sensitivity Training
Third graders will participate in sensitivity training on September 13th.
This training involves students rotating through stations that simulate various mental and physical disabilities. Mrs. Skinner, school counselor, if looking for volunteers to help facilitate these stations. If you are interested in helping, please go to the link below. Curriculum

Math- We continue with Module 1 in Eureka Math. Module 1 covers Properties of Multiplication and Division. We will take MAP math on Tuesday. We started using the website to practice fluency. I told the students I would include it in the blog so they could practice at home. https://www.mathsisfun.com/numbers/math-trainer-multiply.html

Language Arts- We continue to focus on questioning before, during and after reading stories. We will also continue to focus on how characters' traits, motivations and feelings contribute to the development of the plot in stories and story elements. We continue our writing unit on personal narratives. We will also focus on common and proper nouns.

Social Studies-  We will start learning about the different regions in SC.

Science- We will continue discussing adaptations that plants and animals have in the Grasslands and look at food chains as well.
