Balloon Poke

We explored the three states of matter today with a Balloon Poke. One Balloon was filled with water, one with gas, and one with a solid (ice). After the activity today your child should be able to explain the characteristics of each state of matter and the particles of a solid, liquid and gas.
Gavin and Harrison work on poking the balloon with the solid inside.
My favorite...Claire and Bennett poking the balloon with a liquid inside.
Anna and Sydney poking the balloon with gas inside.

Next Week...

State Museum Field Study
We will be visiting the SC State Museum on April 15th. Your child has a blue permission slip and a white slip in their Friday folder. I'm only allowed to take 2 chaperones with our class. If you are interested in being a chaperone, please email me by Tuesday. Chaperones will ride the bus with us and will be in charge of leading a small group of students while we are at the museum. If I have more than 2 volunteers, I will draw from a hat and let you know if you were "picked".

Stacking Oreos

The students enjoyed seeing how many Oreos they could stack this morning in math. Everyone took a turn trying to stack up to 15 cookies, we collected our data and then created a line plot with the information. They also did a great job of working in their Learning Clubs to come up with questions they could ask their classmates about the line plot.
