A Look Ahead

Read Across America

We celebrated Read Across America this week with different read alouds/interviews from community members in different career fields. The students made a vision board and watched a magician to celebrate the week. 

Famous African American One-Pagers

The class worked on a famous African American one pager last week. They researched someone that interested them and presented the information on one page (Google Slide). One pagers are an AVID strategy. Below is Catie's one pager...


Curriculum

Math-  We will continue with Chapter 10:Understand Fractions. If you would like to know more about what your child will be learning in this chapter check out the Family Letter. Please encourage your child to practice their multiplication facts. They can use flashcards the following website: Math Trainer. 

ELA-  We will finish up focusing on author's purpose (persuade, inform, entertain) with a quiz on Tuesday or Wednesday.  In writing, we continue working on literary analysis. This type of writing also involves reading since we will be analyzing texts. 

Science- We will not focus on science next week.  

Social Studies- The students are working on a research assignment where they are learning about the different cultures around the world.
