Thank you to everyone who provided your child with candy for the science lessons this week! I think they really enjoyed it and I'm sure they are disappointed we do not need any more food for awhile. :) Please remind your child that their pet rock project is due on Wednesday. Everything required for the project can be found under the topic Pet Rock Project in their Google Classroom. I have told them that everyday, as a reminder.

It will be nice to get out of the house a little more. Just a reminder we do not have school on Monday or on Monday, January 25th. Please make sure you ask your child about the science project that was assigned today (see more details below). Have a wonderful weekend!

A Look Ahead

I have really enjoyed our science time this week on rocks and minerals, since the students have had an opportunity to do some hands on activities. We will continue with some more this week that involve candy. If you recall, I sent an email over break about some food items that I will use for science.  I know your child would enjoy participating too, but it is not mandatory. If you would like your child to participate they will need 3 Airheads (any size), a hard piece of candy (ex. lifesaver), a small bag of Sour Patch Kids and wax paper or a sandwich/snack bag. They will not needs these items until Wednesday, at the earliest.

Math Practice/ Rounding

I have added a topic in my Google Classroom titled Math Practice. I put a document under the topic with some rounding websites your child can go to to practice their rounding skills. Rounding has been a little more difficult for the class than other math skills we have studied. I will add more resources for math practice in the coming weeks. I will inform my students about this Math Practice Topic on Monday.

Curriculum

Math-  We continue working on rounding and estimating numbers in Chapter 7. The students will have a test covering this material on Wednesday. We will move into Chapter 8: Add and Subtract Multi Digit Numbers. Please encourage your child to practice their multiplication facts. They can use the following website: Math Trainer.
