Next Week

Gator Groups
The students attended their first Gator Group today. Every teacher will lead a Gator Group on half days. The students picked 5 groups that interested them earlier in September and they met for the first time today. They seemed to have a really good time!! Make sure you ask your child about their group.

Think Tank Question
Every week I post a Think Tank Question. The students have the week to figure out the answer. We did our first one this week and I will go over the answer on Monday. The students do not have to do the problem, but I encourage them try. I just looked at the answer for the first one and only 1 person got it correct. I thought if you needed something to talk about at dinner, you could discuss it. Many students said the answer was 42. :)

To make a flag of the United States of America, you need 3 different colors of fabric. How many colors of fabric do you need to make 14 USA flags?

Reading Test
Your child's reading test is in his/her Friday Folder. I was pretty lenient in my grading on the short answer question (#10) because it was their first test, but as the year goes on I will expect more on short answer questions. Even if your child made a 100, please look at that question for comments I might have written. Also, reading tests are usually open book because we want students to look back for answers, if it is in the text.
