SC Ready (State Test)

State testing will be taking place in two more weeks. Third grade will take Language Arts and Math. ELA will be on Monday, May 14th and Tuesday, May 15th. Math will be on Thursday, May 17th. Please do not schedule any appointments for your child on these three days. If your child misses the testing day they will have to make it up in a small group away from class. Students are much more focused/engaged when they are in their normal classroom environment. Please let me know if you have any questions. 

Pizza Fraction Projects
The students have been busy the last couple of weeks working on their Pizza Fraction Projects. They are so creative!! 

Curriculum
Math- We will wrap up Module 5 on Fractions with a test on Tuesday. We will move into Module 6, Collecting and Displaying Data. The math portion of SC Ready will be on Thursday, May 17th. 

Language Arts- We continue discussing figurative language and the students will have a quiz on Wednesday over Idioms, Metaphors, Similes and Personification. The ELA portion of SC Ready will be on May 14th and 15th. 

Science- We will continue discussing Landforms. 

Social Studies- We continue discussing the Civil War in SC. 

*We also continue to review for SC Ready (State Test) on May 14th, 15th and 17th.

Looking Ahead

SC Ready (State Test)

Please look for an important paper in your child's folder explaining SC Ready. 

Spring Pictures

Your child should have spring pictures in his/her folder. Please send them back, if you do not want to purchase any or keep the ones you want and send the rest back with your payment. Please look for directions in the envelope. 

Happy Earth Day!
We partnered up with Mrs. Hood's class to make Cheerio bird feeders for the birds that visit LCEUC. 

Curriculum
Math- We continue to work in Module 5, Fractions. We should finish up soon and I am planning a test over it on Tuesday, May 1st. We will also continue reviewing for SC Ready. 

Language Arts- We continue discussing Figurative Language. (metaphors, similes, personification and idioms) We will also do some opinion writing and review for SC Ready.

Science- We continue discussing Landforms and Water Features on Earth. The students will have a quiz over water features on Thursday. 

Social Studies- We continue discussing the Civil War. 

Dynamite Divider

Davina is our first Dynamite Divider!! Not only has she mastered her multiplication, but also division!! Way to go! Who will be next? 

Purple Up - Military Kids

The school celebrated Military Children today by wearing purple. Everyone looks great in their purple!

Gator Fest is quickly approaching! Look for a flyer in your Friday Folder for information about the Auction and Tickets.

Report Cards
Your child's report card is in his/her Friday Folder. Please keep the report, sign and return the envelope. 

Curriculum

Math- We continue to work on Fractions in Module 5. 

Language Arts- We will start discussing Poetry and Figurative Language. (metaphors, similes, idioms, personification)  The students will have a reading test over the story Dear Juno on Friday. We will also have a "dress rehearsal" for state testing on Monday. The students will complete multiple choice questions and a TDA (text dependent analysis) writing. 

Science- We will wrap up Fast and Slow Changes to the Earth with a test on Thursday. We will move into Landforms. 

Social Studies- We will wrap up Antebellum Times with a test on Tuesday.  We will move into the Civil War.

We learned about dental hygiene today with a group from Delta Dental. We had several helpers from our class!!
