Last Week of May

Gator Games
The students had a blast at Gator Games.  It was hot, but all the water stations and popsicles helped a ton!

Water Relays- I enjoyed spraying the students as they came to the water container. 

Curriculum
Math- The students will have a quiz over Module 7 Lessons 4-7 on Thursday. 

Language Arts- We will continue reading the novel Lemonade War. 

Social Studies- We will continue with Reconstruction in SC. 

Science- We will wrap up our unit on Matter (three states and changing states) with a quiz on Friday.

Lower Campus Visit

We had a very enjoyable visit with Mrs. Rholetter's Class today. The students did a good job of being third grade leaders while reading with the kindergartners. Some students were so excited to see some of their old teachers too.

A Look Ahead

PTO Free Book
Thanks to the PTO, your child received a free book of their choice from the Book Fair this afternoon! The BOGO Book Fair will be going on next week. We will go as a class on Monday so if you child wants to purchase a book, please have them bring in money.    


Lunch Next Week
The cafeteria will be serving bag lunches next week and will probably only have one choice. Monday they will serve corn dogs. I will let the students know Monday what Tuesday's choice will be and so on. 

Relaxing Lunchtime 
The students decided they needed to relax after SC Ready yesterday during our outdoor lunch. Creative way of using the cucumbers from the school lunch! 





Curriculum
Math- We will review for SC Ready. The test will be on Tuesday. We will also continue to work in Module 7 on Geometry. 

Language Arts- We will continue reading the novel Lemonade War. The students will have a quiz over chapters 1-6 on Thursday. We are also learning how to write in cursive. 

Social Studies- We will move into Reconstruction in SC. 

Science- We continue to focus on Matter (three states and changing states)

A Look Ahead

SC Ready
The class is ready and prepared for SC Ready next week. Please look for two papers in your child's Friday Folder about testing. We will test on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Thank you to everyone who sent in encouraging notes for your child. You can still do so as long as I have it by Monday. Let me know if you have any questions.

ALERT Projects
We were able to take a Gallery Walk through the ALERT room to see the research the students had been working on. Great job, Zoe, Xavier, Sophie, Meredith and Grayson!





Curriculum
Math- We will review for SC Ready this week. The test is on Friday. The students are using the website below in class that can help them with their subtraction, addition, multiplication and division fluency. If they have time at home they can practice as well.

Language Arts- We will review for SC Ready this week. The students will have their ELA tests on Tuesday, May 14th and Wednesday, May 15th. We will also start reading the novel Lemonade War. Everyone will have their own copy that will be checked out from the library so they are responsible for keeping up with it. 

Social Studies- We will move into Reconstruction. 

Science- We continue to focus on Matter (three states and changing states)

Already May

SC Ready Countdown
We have been counting down to SC Ready with a balloon pop each day. The students have received a small treat that goes with a motivational saying for their hard work. This week was: 
You were "mint" to succeed! You're a "starburst" of knowledge and It's time to rock & "roll". (tootsie roll) You've got this! Thank you to everyone who sent in treats for these days and for the small snacks before testing. Have a great weekend! 

Curriculum
Math- We continue with Module 6 on Data Analysis. We will also spend some time reviewing math standards for the upcoming state test. (SC Ready) The math portion of SC Ready is on Friday, May 17th. The students are using the website below in class that can help them with their subtraction, addition, multiplication and division fluency. Science- We will continue to focus on Matter (three states and changing states)
