Multiplication Master and Career Day

Career Day

The students met several adults today from different fields to ask them questions about their careers. 

A Look Ahead

What a busy and fun week!! I am having a hard time believing we only have 2 weeks of school left! 

Library Books
In your child's Friday folder is a form from the media center. Please take the time to read it and fill it out if you would like to have your child check out books over the summer. I would highly suggest your child participate, so they can continue reading during the break! 

Gator Games

Curriculum

Math- We are finishing up math with a few lessons from Module 7 on Geometry. The students will have a quiz on Friday. 

Language Arts- We continue reading Lemonade War and completing activities to go with the book. The student will have an open book quiz over chapters 1-6 on Tuesday. 

Science- We will continue with Matter and discuss Heat as well.

Social Studies- We will be finishing up Reconstruction and will move into the 20th Century in SC. 

Fireflies Game

We had a great time at the game today! Caiden even caught a ball during a break between innings!

Busy Week Next Week

State Testing
We completed state testing (SC Ready) this week. Fourth and Fifth have one more day of testing, but I know my class is happy that it is over. The class seemed to do a good job of taking their time and working hard! 

Gator Games

Gator Games will take place on Friday. Your child will be outside from 8:30-11:30. Please apply sunscreen on your child before they come to school, make sure they have a water bottle, a towel, and a change of clothes. They are also welcome to wear a hat. There will be some water activities so if your child decides to wear a swimsuit they must have clothes on over their suit at all times. It should be a fun day!!

Fireflies Game

I know the students are looking forward to the Fireflies game on Wednesday. We will leave around 9:45 and be back at school around 1:30. Please look in your child's Friday Folder for a orange paper with important information about the game next week. 

Curriculum

Math- The students will have a test over Module 6, Data Analysis, on Thursday. We will move into the rest of Module 7 on Geometry. 

Language Arts- We will continue reading Lemonade War. 

Science- We will focus on Matter. 

Social Studies- We are discussing Reconstruction in SC after the Civil War. 

Multiplication Master

Testing Week!

State Testing is this coming Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Students are prepared and ready to take ELA Writing, Reading and Math. Please make sure your child is to school on time, has had a good breakfast and is well rested for testing days. Look for a blue letter in your child's Friday Folder explaining more about testing. Please let me know if you have any questions. 

Thank you for all the teacher appreciation presents this week and the class gift! I love the knot bracelet and earrings! You have all spoiled me, and I will have to exercise even more from all the sweet treats. :)


Camp Kemo Quarter War
We start our last service learning project on Monday. The school will be collecting quarters for Camp Kemo. Students can donate quarters between May 14th and May 25th. 

Landform "Artists"

Students used Playdough and other resources to construct different landforms. 

Curriculum

Math- We will take SC Ready Math on Thursday. We will be finishing up Module 6 on Graphing with a test the following week. 

Language Arts- We will be doing a novel study on the book, Lemonade War. Students will take SC Ready Writing on Monday and Reading on Tuesday. 

Science- We will be discussing Matter and Heat.

Social Studies- We will be discussing Reconstruction in SC after the Civil War. 

Synergy Rapids

The students used Habit # 6, Synergize, as they worked in groups to turn their "raft" over from one side to the other without anyone touching the "water" or busting their "raft" by ripping it. Some groups were successful, but they all did a great job of working together as a group!!

Congratulations to Paige for mastering her multiplication facts!! We have several students right behind her! 

Curriculum

Math- We continue with Module 6 on Data Analysis and Measurement. We will also continue to review standards for SC Ready. The math portion will be administered on Thursday, May 17th.

Language Arts- We will be reviewing standards for SC Ready which will take place the following week. ELA Writing will be on Monday, May 14th and ELA Reading will be on Tuesday, May 15th. 

Science- We will wrap up landforms with a quiz on Wednesday. 

Social Studies- We will wrap up the Civil War. The students will have a quiz over the material on Thursday. We will then move onto Reconstruction in SC. 

Countdown to Testing

We started our countdown to SC Ready on Monday!! Each day the students will pop a balloon with a motivational saying inside and receive a treat that goes with the saying. Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to send in the treats! I really appreciate all the support!!! 

The books arrived!!!

Students who ordered books from our Skype session with Suzanne Selfors were excited to receive their autographed books today!!!
