A Look Ahead...

Math- We will start our unit on Data/Graphing. We will focus on bar graphs, picture graphs, and line plots. Math Newsletter

Language Arts- We will be reading Revolutionary War on Wednesday. They will have a quiz over chapters 1-5 on Friday. The students will also have a district writing assessment I will administer on Wednesday

Science- We continue studying landforms. (volcanoes, islands, plains, valleys and canyons). 

Social Studies- We will wrap up Chapter 5 on the Revolutionary War with our test on Tuesday. We will then start Chapter 6 on Government.

As part of Black History Month each class researched a famous African American and presented their findings on the morning show. Trenton, Ethan, Anna and Brianna did a great job representing our class!

Next Week


The book fair is next week. Our class will go to the Book Fair Tuesday morning. Your child can bring in money for our visit to purchase something or make a wish list and go at a later time during the week. 

Math- We will wrap up Fractions on Friday with a test. 

Language Arts- We continue working with figurative language next week. (ex. idioms, hyperbole, personification) 

Science- We will focus on land forms next week. 

Social Studies- We continue discussing the Revolutionary War in Chapter 5.

A Look Ahead

Gullah Speaker
The students enjoyed listening to our Gullah speaker today. They learned a lot about the Gullah Culture in South Carolina.




Math- We continue to work with Fractions. The  Fractional Autobiographies are due on Wednesday

Language Arts- The students will have a test over "Nacho and Lolita" on Tuesday. We will move into figurative language (similes, metaphors, personification etc. )

Science- We will wrap up slow and fast changes to the Earth with a test on Wednesday. We will also start discussing different types of land forms.

Social Studies- We continue our discussion about the Revolutionary Wart in Chapter 5.

A Look at Next Week

Math- We will continue learning about fractions and focus on placing them correctly on a number line. The students will have a quiz on Thursday.

Language Arts- Our story for next week is "Nacho and Lolita". The students will have a test over this story on Friday

Science- We continue to discuss fast and slow changes to the earths surface. 

Social Studies- We continue with Chapter 5 on the American Revolution. 

Cookie Weathering and Erosion
The students weathered and eroded a rock (cookie) during science this week. Hopefully they remember what weathering and erosion is and what causes it after this fun activity.

We had two of my former students job shadow today. The students enjoyed asking Miranda and Emily about life as a middle school student. They seemed to be most concerned about the food in middle school. :)
