 Friday Folders

Your child is coming home with his/her green Friday Folder. These will come home every Friday with important papers and grades. Please look through them and send the folder back with your child on Monday. Please note the letter explaining the SC Read to Succeed Act for 3rd graders. If you have any questions, please let me know.

STEM Challenge

The students worked with their learning club to see how many pennies they could suspend in a cup without it tipping over. They were given yarn, tape, scissors and straws. We had a class discussion about how in third grade some things are going to be hard and you might not succeed at it the first time, but you should keep trying and not give up. I have a saying I use a lot in my classroom: "It is ok not to know, but it is not ok to not try".

Media Center

The students enjoyed media center orientation today. They were able to check out books. I look forward to listening to them read and hear/see what they are reading about.

Curriculum

Math- We will be reviewing a few standards from second grade before we jump into the third grade math standards. We will review place value, addition and subtraction strategies, and reading and writing numbers in different forms (standard, word and expanded).
